The existing backyard was a blank canvas for a dynamic new landscape that creates a series of outdoor areas for this active family to utilize.  Located in the casual beach community of Ocean Beach, the final design was installed by the homeowner. We were able to integrate a number of creative features into a compact residential lot.  Sustainability was a priority for this family as we worked together to include rainwater capture, gardening and composting areas, recycled materials and water conserving plants.

Features include:

• bar height counter made of recycled wood and metal elements found by homeowner
• a casual outdoor dining area with a grill and raised garden planters
• a Petanque Court
• compact turf area for their dogs
• concrete seat walls to define areas and create additional seating
• wood deck built around an existing tree to create a secluded area for their growing children to hang out
• clean planting palette that takes advantage of low maintenance plants and adds to the beach vibe
